a place to remember

Freedom Park, Dumaguete City is such a lovely place. It's a right place to relax and enjoy, a best place to free yourself from stress. I have a lot of memories from this park. After school, I and my circle of friends used to stay here for some talks and sharing session. It is a place to remember. A place, which I will never forget in my entire life.

If you happen to visit Dumaguete City, don't miss to stroll around the Freedom Park especially during the afternoon. I am pretty sure, it will become one of those places you will always remember. If you don't have any company then I can offer you a walk (laugh)!

Beauty in Darkness

Darkness, in general, is associated with awful things- loneliness, emptiness, dullness and other synonymous words. More often than not and sad to note, yes it is! However, in a different perspective, darkness can also mean beauty. There is beauty in darkness. During the dark times of our life, it is when we are able to appreciate light more than never before. During these times, we are able to identify real friends who keep holding on the lights to guide and lead us to the right path. Darkness made us learn a lot of lessons in life. These and more are enough to say that there is always beauty in darkness. We may not appreciate it right away but we will be able to see its importance later on as we continue in our journey called life because darkness has made us stronger.

ARCKE Wall

ARCKE's office is at the 2nd floor in one of the buildings located at Real St., Dumaguete City beside Ultra Vision Cinema 1. We decided to rent the place for our business because we find it a good spot (despite located at the 2nd floor) and with just right area for the studio, also, we can used the place for dwelling, so it's perfect for us!

Before, the place served as two offices, an office for a lending company and a law office, now, it serves as one office for ARCKE. We have done a lot of renovation at the office. We have repainted the walls. Yes, it was a tough job but not for Argey. He had made a painting in one of the walls of ARCKE, specifically the one first seen when visitors would come up and visit our office. To give you a glimpse of the painting, I have posted pictures above. The first picture is the wall painting and the second one is the artist behind that great art.

Overhead Distribution

I bet you know how electricity is generated and distributed. If not, then this how electricity is generated and distributed:

Production of electricity starts in the power plant trough large power generators, machines which are made of wires and magnets to convert mechanical energy to electric energy. In order to produce electricity, these generators must spin. This spin is done through a wind mill, water turbine (hydroelectric plant), gas turbine, steam turbine, and diesel plants. I have witnessed the process in a steam turbine when we had our field trip during my college days for an engineering subject. I say, it’s quite complicated but very interesting (lol). Anyway, once the turbines generate the electricity, its voltage is significantly increased by passing it through step-up transformers. Then the electricity is routed onto a network of high-voltage transmission lines capable of efficiently transporting electricity over long distances. From the transmission substation, electricity is brought to different towns and cities through high voltage transmission lines, where there is a distribution substation. From this substation, several distribution lines go out to the streets to carry the electricity to different places where the consumers are located. Majority of the distribution lines are installed “overhead” or on poles and a few are built underground.

Since majority of the distribution lines are installed "overhead” or on poles, I am not wondering why the picture above looks like very disorder. It really negates the beauty of a place. I know it would be very expensive if it will be built underground. There are other issues and problems that needed more attention than this. But just a question, are all these distribution lines working? Is it true that 60% of the lines are useless because the agency concerned are just dead beat of cleaning out this disorder? That only 40% are actually used? Well, if its true then I think even if it’s “overhead” distributed, it would not look like the above picture if they will just remove the old and unused distribution lines.
